Geometria Naturalis

Skupinová výstava

Curated by Jan Dotřel

The group exhibition follows the long-term curatorial focus of Jan Dotrel and the Kvalitář gallery on the interdisciplinary interconnection of art and science. Subtitled "A Chapter from Crystallography", Geometria naturalis focuses on the fascinating world of crystals, natural geometry and geological time.

The exhibition brings together two designers, Jakub Berdych Karpelis and Rony Plesl. The former makes conscious use of different types of rocks that are determined by natural regularity, while the latter focuses mainly on glass, which he uses in an innovative artisanal way to create sculptures with themes of crystallisation and sacred geometry. The exhibition also presents two painters, Jan Poupěte and Adam Kašpar. The former has built his distinctive visual language on geometrized form, which he develops in an architectural manner in his oil paintings. For the latter painter, geology, astronomy and mineralogy are his main field of activity, which he explores through intensive observation and mimetic painting. The cluster of exhibiting artists is rounded off by Jan Dotřel as a photographer whose work has long been concerned with constructions of geometric solids and photographs of them in the landscape, responding not only to the scientific discoveries mentioned below.
