Curator: Jan Dotřel
In a collection of avant-garde furniture and decorative accessories designer Michal Hagara presents, at Kvalitář, his view of modern living. The installation is accompanied by works of the New York studio Calico Wallpaper.
The first solo exhibition of Slovak designer Michal Hagara at the Kvalitář show-room displays a set of basic solitary furniture pieces. By retaining all functional elements, the furniture, transformed by Hagara into surprising forms, becomes a work of art in its own right.
Exhibition Essential Elements / Furnitecture includes objects made of a thousand-year-old pin oak andspecial ALUCrystal aluminium, which were developed for exclusive use by Hagara’s team.
“Manufacturing processes for our products are often nonexistent. Therefore, we never refrain from developing them ourselves,” says the designer, who names Le Corbusier or Oscar Niemayer among his models.
On display, accompanying Michal Hagara’s furniture, are works from the New York studio Calico Wallpaper.
