Angry Pacifist

Jonathan Barnbrook, Petr Bosák, First Jana Horáčková, Jan Horčík, Jan Novák, Babeta Ondrová, Vojtěch Říha

2/7/2014 – 2/26/2014

Curator: Jan Novák, Markéta Kratochvílová, Tadeáš Podracký

The Angry Pacifist project represents a specific sample of Czech and foreign typographic fonts. The curator’s selection was left up to Jan Novák, graphic designer and typographer, who invited Markéta Kratochvílová and Tadeáš Podracký to work on the spatial layout. Unlike classical typographic exhibitions, in this case, no alphabetical samples of individual fonts are to be presented. The aim of the authors was to present the typeface in a specific situation, thus achieving not only an unexpected manner of its presentation, but also to create an effective solution to the demonstrator’s visual weaponry.

Represented typefaces:
Jonathan Barnbrook – Prototype
Petr Bosák – Poem First
Jana Horáčková – Rebecca
Jan Horčík – Danzza
Jan Novák – Liguria
Babeta Ondrová – Rugby
Vojtech Říha – Zlom (Break)

Markéta Kratochvílová is a fifth-year student at the Metal – K.O.V. (Concept, Object, Meaning) Studio of Eva Eisler at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. This time last year, she was an exchange student at the School of Visual Arts in New York, where she decided to focus her energy on jewellery. Apart from the Studio’s exhibition, you might have seen her work recently at the Designblok Talent Cards or the Beijing International Art Jewelry Biennial in China. Some of her jewels have become part of collection of Nancy Olnick or Patti Bleicher, for instance.

Tadeáš Podracký is a graduation-year student at the Glass Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He focuses on glass product design, interior objects, or large-scale free installations. The strengths of his work include the manuscript based on philosophical or aesthetic interpretation.
